Hi all,
There is a possibility in the future to upgrade at 4k the Radiance XD/XE ?
Or only a new model for the 4K ?
Many thanks Smile

Steven

While we're still making improvements and addition, to handle a 4K mode requires major changes beyond what is possible in the current Radiance boxes. The Radiance does support hd modes beyond 1920x1080 such as 2048x1080.

We plan to support 4K displays and projectors in the future, but do not have any annouced products to talk about for this at this time.

The 4K Radiance will be a new hardware design and not an upgrade to the RadianceXE.

However, we will probably have a trade-in credit like when we moved from the Vision series to the Radiance series. Not a commitment to a trade-in program though since we will make the final decision later.

Well, they are 1920 x 1080 panel arrays...and they accept domestic sources , 720p, 1080i, 1080p...so I'd expect exactly the same as an X3/X7/X9...Why would there be any difference?

I just don't see how the its resolution will affect calibration. It must still display ANY 1080p source accurately.

Then of course there is the question of whether it is actually 4K2....need to go read all those old threads on wobulation (pretty sure the results were that it was crap 4 or 5 yrs ago.....)

Yup the VW1000ES rumoured at $30k. I wonder when we will see the release of lots of decent native 4k source material ?

Red are working on getting their 4K codec supported by Blu-Ray so we may well see 4K sources in the not too distant future...

I've no doubt we will see some 4k source material I just wonder how much real material choice there will be. I guess only time will tell how 4k and 3D in it's current guise will play out.
